$100/mo off a phone bill via a Grok Bot bill auditor

DJ had his Grok Bot log into his AT&T account and look for savings, and he says his bill dropped $100 a month. He published the bot as a free template called Bill, which now covers the big US carriers. Other people in his threads report smaller wins, from $5 to $83 a month.

What the source did

  • DJ asked his Grok Bot to log into his AT&T account and save him money. He says his bill dropped $100 a month.
  • He turned it into a bot called Bill. In his words, it "reads your bills and usage, hunts for cheaper plans and missing credits, and even works AT&T's chat and online reps." In a later reply he said Bill negotiated a lower rate with a live AT&T chat agent.
  • On Oct 2 he updated Bill to work with AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. Its template page now lists twelve US carriers, including Visible, Mint, Cricket, Google Fi, Xfinity Mobile and Spectrum Mobile.
  • Verizon's sign-in page blocks cloud and automated browsers. His fix: sign in yourself, download your plan and the last few bills, and upload those to the chat. The bot audits from the PDFs. Never paste your password, PIN or one-time code.
  • His tip for getting started: talk to it like a carrier employee. Ask what you're overpaying for compared with your usage, and go from there.
  • Others in his threads posted results: one Verizon user says it will save $83 a month after uploading 4 or 5 bills, one found a missing credit and a watch line worth over $200, one dropped an unused hotspot for $120 a year, and one got only $5 off. Another was already on the best deal, and the bot said it would review each month's bill.
  • On Oct 25 he wrote that his guess is Bill has "probably saved people tens of thousands of dollars," and that it also works for insurance and other payments. That total is his guess, not a count.
  • Heads-up: the $100 a month is DJ's own figure, and the replies are other people's posts we didn't verify. One early user said the copy they added was a generic bot with no memory of its job; DJ said he had just restaged it and asked them to try again.
“Bill never pays, changes a plan, ports a number, or moves a line without your OK”— DJ (@congressdj), X

Our notes

What it takes
Grok Bot, DJ's free Bill template, your last few cellphone bills (PDFs) or access to your carrier account, and a clear picture of what you actually use: lines, data, hotspots, add-ons.
Where it breaks
Verizon's sign-in blocks bots (upload the bill PDFs instead), a copy of the template that doesn't know its job until re-added, and results that vary: reported wins in his threads run from $5 a month to his $100, and some people were already on the best deal.
Human checkpoint
Bill audits and recommends. Every plan change, payment, number port or line move waits for your OK, and you never paste a password, PIN or one-time code into the chat.

Approval rule

🛡
Bill audits and recommends. Every plan change, payment, port or line move waits for your OK, and you never paste a password, PIN or one-time code into the chat. Sending, buying, posting, and deleting always need a human.

Set it up

  1. Add DJ's Bill template from the link above.
  2. Gather your last few bills as PDFs from your carrier's site. On Verizon, this is the only route, because its sign-in blocks bots.
  3. Upload the bills, or take over the bot's browser screen to sign in yourself on carriers that allow it. Don't type a password, PIN or code into the chat.
  4. Ask what you're overpaying for compared with your actual usage: lines, data, hotspots, add-ons, streaming perks and watch lines.
  5. Read its ranked list of savings, per month and per year, and check each one against your bill.
  6. Say yes only to the changes you want. Any plan change, payment, port or line move waits for you.
  7. Ask it to review each new bill, so price creep and new fees get caught.

Common failures

⚠
  • Expecting it to log into Verizon. Verizon blocks bots; upload the bill PDFs instead. Retrying from the bot's screen only locks the attempt harder, per DJ.
  • A copy that doesn't know its job. One user's copy behaved like a generic bot until DJ restaged the template. If yours seems lost, re-add it.
  • Expecting $100 a month. Reported wins in his threads range from $5 a month to his $100, and some people were already on the best deal.
  • Dropping something you use. An "unused" hotspot or watch line is only unused if you agree. Check each line item before you approve.
  • Counting a change before it shows up. Look at the next bill to confirm the new price and any credit.

Variations

  • Point it at other bills. DJ says it also works for insurance and any other payments you have. In an earlier reply he said his bot also got him a reimbursement of almost $800.
  • Compare perks, not just plans. One user had it weigh Verizon perks against the streaming services he already paid for and found a better deal on HBO and Netflix.
  • Run it monthly. One user's bot found no savings, then offered to review each month's bill for changes.
