$735 owed found by a Payback Grok Bot

She built a Grok Bot called Payback that runs weekly passes for trials about to go paid, duplicate subscriptions, price increases on recurring bills and Amazon return credits, then helps her get the money back. She says its first pass found $735.48.

What the source did

  • She built a Grok Bot named Payback. Its job is to find money she's owed or overpaying, then help her get it back.
  • It runs weekly passes that catch free trials before they turn into paid plans, duplicate subscriptions, and price increases on recurring bills.
  • It also confirms that Amazon actually gave her credit for her returns.
  • Its goal is to more than cover its own plan cost every month.
  • She says the first pass found $735.48. In a reply she added that it's all real: returns and credits she never had time to check.
  • She shared it as a template, "Payback by Tina", linked above. Its description says it reads your inbox and transactions, drafts the asks, and sends a monthly receipt showing whether it paid for its own plan, counting only proven wins.
  • Heads-up: $735.48 is what the first pass found; she didn't say how much has been recovered so far. It's a small post (7 likes, about 339 views when we checked).

Our notes

What it takes
Her Payback Grok Bot template, with access to your inbox and transactions. It runs a weekly pass and sends a monthly receipt of proven wins.
Where it breaks
Counting what it finds as money back (her $735.48 is what the first pass found, not what's been recovered), and trials that slip into paid plans before you act.
Human checkpoint
The bot finds and drafts the asks. You send each request, cancel trials or subscriptions and handle returns yourself.

Find money I'm owed or overpaying. Never contact anyone. Once a week, go through my inbox and transactions and look for: 1. Free trials about to turn into paid plans. List each with the date it starts charging. 2. Duplicate subscriptions: the same service charged more than once. 3. Price increases on recurring bills: the old price, the new price, and when it changed. 4. Returns: check that every Amazon return was actually credited. List any that weren't, and any purchases still inside their return window. 5. Refunds I was promised that never arrived. For each find, show the email or transaction that proves it and the amount. Mark anything you're unsure of as "check". For each find I confirm, draft the ask (a refund or credit request, or a note on what I should cancel) and wait for me. Once a month, give me a receipt: proven wins only, and whether they cover your plan cost. Only find and draft. Never send a message, pay, buy, cancel, start a return or delete anything.

Approval rule

🛡
The bot finds the money and drafts the asks. You send each request, cancel trials and subscriptions, and handle returns yourself; it never contacts anyone, pays, buys, cancels or deletes. Sending, buying, posting, and deleting always need a human.

Set it up

  1. Add her Payback template from the link above.
  2. Give it access to your inbox and transactions.
  3. Let it run its weekly pass.
  4. Check each find against the email or charge it points to.
  5. Send each ask yourself, cancel any trial or subscription you don't want, and handle returns yourself.
  6. Read the monthly receipt to see whether it covered its own plan cost.

Common failures

⚠
  • Counting finds as money back. Her $735.48 is what the first pass found; track what actually comes back, as the template's receipt does with proven wins only.
  • Letting a trial slip into a paid plan. Catching trials before they go to paid is part of the weekly pass, so act on those finds first.
  • Letting it send or cancel on its own. It drafts; you send, cancel and return.

Variations

  • Use her template as-is. Our prompt is a text version if you'd rather build your own.
  • Start with returns. Checking that Amazon credited each return is one of the jobs she lists.
