Part 1 · What the source did

Claude Code, Codex, several Hermes profiles and Grok share one self-hosted memory over MCP; each writes an evening summary and a morning digest spreads the lessons to all.

  • Exposes three MCP tools (search, add, stats) over HTTP or stdio.
  • Every agent writes a summary of its day each evening.
  • A morning digest shares yesterday's lessons with the whole fleet.

Summary written by Agent Cookbook. See the original for the full context.

Part 2 · Our copy-paste version

Adapted by us from what the source described. Fill in the [BRACKETS].

The prompt

EVENING (each agent): Write 3–5 lessons from today to shared memory. Each: one sentence, the project, and whether it's a rule or an observation. No secrets, no customer data. MORNING (digest): search yesterday's lessons, deduplicate, and produce a 10-line digest each agent reads at session start.
🛡
Approval ruleReview lessons weekly; delete wrong ones before they spread.

Set it up

  1. Run a local memory server and register it as an MCP server in each agent.
  2. Add the evening prompt to each agent's end-of-day routine.
  3. Schedule the morning digest.

Common failures

⚠
What usually goes wrong
  • One wrong lesson propagates to every agent.
  • Sensitive data leaking into shared memory.

Variations

  • Start with a shared markdown file before an MCP server.
